Dear Mom,

It's that special time of year again, where I get to return a tiny portion of the infinitely large favor you have done for me as my mother. It's very difficult for me, as a programmer, to express my gratitude for all that you have done and how much you mean to me, so I've filled this website with words from those who can express it a little better:

All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.

— Abraham Lincoln

God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.

— Jewish Proverb

A suburban mother's role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car forever after.

— Peter de Vries

No one worries about you like your mother, and when she is gone, the world seems unsafe, things that happen unwieldy. You cannot turn to her anymore, and it changes your life forever. There is no one on earth who knew you from the day you were born; who knew why you cried, or when you'd had enough food; who knew exactly what to say when you were hurting; and who encouraged you to grow a good heart. When that layer goes, whatever is left of your childhood goes with her.

— Adriana Trigiani

Because even if the whole world was throwing rocks at you, if you had your mother at your back, you'd be okay. Some deep-rooted part of you would know you were loved. That you deserved to be loved.

— Jojo Moyes

You have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be -
I had a mother who read to me.

— Strickland Gillilan

Men are what their mothers made them.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.

— Washington Irving

Insanity it hereditary; you get it from your children.

— Sam Levenson

Your arms were always open when I needed a hug. Your heart understood when I needed a friend. Your gentle eyes were stern when I needed a lesson. Your strength and love has guided me and gave me wings to fly.

— Sarah Malin

I think in a lot of ways unconditional love is a myth. My mom's the only reason I know it's a real thing.

— Conor Oberst

A mother is the one who fills your heart in the first place.

— Amy Tan

Thank you so much, Mom. I hope you enjoy your Mother's Day this year, and I know you know this already, but I love you very much.

Your son,
Ricky
